DIFC Courts

Another milestone step to ensuring access of world class justice for all

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 07 February 2012: The DIFC Courts, the English language, common law judicial system based in Dubai, will be hosting their first ever ‘Pro Bono Clinic’ on February 16th at the Monarch Hotel, Dubai. The Courts’ Pro Bono Programme was the first of its kind in the Middle East and the Clinic initiative is expected to continue with repeat events in 2012, offering those that could not afford it otherwise, the highest standards of free and confidential, commercial legal advice.

The first Clinic will be for cases with a DIFC connection only. The Clinic is an opportunity for individuals or small business who do not have the funds to cover professional legal consultation to receive this from experienced practitioners, representing major international law firms. Firms participating in the first Clinic are Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton and Herbert Smith. The Pro Bono programme and the new Pro Bono Clinic are just two initiatives run by the DIFC Courts to support their mission of ensuring the highest standards of justice are as accessible as possible to as many as possible.

Amna Al Owais, Small Claims Tribunal Registrar and Pro Bono Programme leader said: “We are always looking for ways to make the DIFC Courts’ world class standard of justice accessible to all and our Pro Bono programme, which was one of the first in the region, has been one of the most important initiatives to support this goal. Our first Pro Bono Clinic is a milestone event for the programme, but it is also an advancement for the accessibility of justice in the UAE.”

Applicants for the Pro Bono Clinic must make an appointment for the Clinic and this can be done by calling 04 427 333. Further information on eligibility and the application process can be found at www.difccourts.ae
