Move continues plan to develop UAE national talent in the legal sector
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 16 December 2012: The DIFC Courts, Dubai’s established English language, common law judicial system, have announced the appointment of Nassir Al Nasser as a Judicial Officer. Nassir joins fellow Emiratis HE Judge Omar Al Muhairi, HE Judge Ali Al Madhani and Shamlan Al Sawalehi on the bench of the DIFC Courts. Nassir is a graduate of the University of Middlesex in England (UK) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law: he is the first Emirati to join the DIFC Courts whose primary legal training has been in English common law.
Prior to joining the DIFC Courts, he undertook training programmes with the Dubai Courts and Dubai Public Prosecutor’s Office. Nassir will be working closely with the DIFC Courts’ international and national Judges, providing judicial support by undertaking legal research, sitting on Small Claims Tribunal (SCT) proceedings and attending Case Management conferences and application hearings. He will also build relationships with public and external relations’ stakeholders and establish further protocols and MOUs with other regional court systems and legal entities.

Nassir Al Nasser commented: “Ever since I began my training in common law I have sought a legal opportunity that would allow me to fulfil my ambitions and put my years of training to the test. I can’t wait to get started in my role as Judicial Officer and am looking forward to learning from the vastly experienced international and resident Judges at the DIFC Courts.”
